Treatment of lung cancer
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Taiwan, according to the Department of health (DOH), having been awarded to 28% of deaths in 2009. Lung cancer is the most common because it represents a fifth of the cases before, in descending order, of liver cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, cancer of the mouth, cancer of the prostate, cancer of the esophagus, the cancer of the pancreas and cancer of the cervix [1].
A medical team, composed of researchers from the statistics Sciences Institute of the Academia Sinica, the Department science clinics and medical biotechnology of the National University of Taiwan and the Hospital of Veterans of Taichung, has just discovered how to predict the effectiveness of a treatment targeted in the case of cancer of the lung, treatment is ineffective in 20 to 30% of cases.
