Use Team Building Events to Map Out Potential Office Teams ...

team building events to test out new teams

Putting together new teams in your office can be a gamble. But using team building events offsite can give you an interesting perspective into how co-workers work together without potential negative consequences.

If you are a manager, then you know that sometimes what looks good on paper just doesn?t seem to pan out in real-life situations. This is particularly true when it comes to interpersonal relationships within a workforce, and teaming up employees to work with one another: while a manager of thinks about skill sets, productivity, and communication when forming new teams for work processes, it?s much more difficult to anticipate the ?x-factors? that go into making teams work or not.

The problem, however, is that testing out new work teams during the rigours of the daily workday can have a negative effect on productivity, as well as long-term implications if the new teams do not work out. Not only can a failed team experiment wreak havoc on projects, deadlines and quality in the short term, but it can also create division and mistrust between coworkers ? as well as between yourself and your workforce.

Perhaps a better approach is to use team building events to experiment with team pairings prior to deploying them in your actual work environment?

With a team building event like Team Apprentice, employees are less focused on work, and more focused on the fun and engagement of the event. and yet, because a team building event connotatively helps build communication and productivity skills, it is a chance for a manager to assemble new teams he or she has in mind, and see how they perform in a scenario that is completely abstract.

We have suggested on this blog before that team building events are a great way for managers to improve their own relationships with team members who report to them. While this is indeed the case, the use of a team building event to evaluate potential team interaction (both positive and negative) is also extremely valuable. Team Apprentice is an event that requires employees to work in a truly business-like environment. It?s the perfect testing ground for new, potential teams.

If you are thinking about deploying new work teams in your business, be sure to try them out first using team building events.
