French car manufacturer, Peugeot, which seems to be all set to start its India innings all over again, recently released some details and the first official photographs of the new 301 saloon which has been engineered for emerging markets like India.
?The new Peugeot 301 is a clear illustration of the marque's desire to conquer new markets. The car has been specifically designed to appeal to a wide customer base attracted by four-door saloons which are both accessible and present an enhanced level of status,? says a press release from Peugeot, and the bit about four-door saloons and ?enhanced level of status? is a dead giveaway of their intent to launch the car in India as soon as possible.
According to Peugeot, the new 301 has been engineered to adapt to extreme hot and cold weather conditions as well as poor roads and boasts of ?class leading? space for rear seat passengers. The chassis and suspension have been optimized for ride comfort and the car will be available with safety features like ABS, ESP and up to four airbags.
Engine options on the new Peugeot 301 include 71bhp 1.2-litre and 115bhp 1.6-litre petrol engines, and a 92bhp 1.6-litre diesel. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available. The car will make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in September this year, and will first be launched in Turkey, followed by Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Ukraine, Greece, The Middle East, Gulf and African States and parts of South America. We?re also sure the Peugeot 301 will make its way to India by mid- to end-2013 and is likely to be priced at around Rs 8-9 lakh.
